Chase To Perfection

The football season is upon us and especially during every football season, I always remember one of my heroes, “Vince Lombardi”. Although I never knew him personally, his ideas live in me, and I try to pass on his beliefs to those who count in my life.

Vince Lombardi had many messages to pass on. You will be able to read some of his ideas and beliefs in the next few paragraphs. I know reading his words will inspire you and set a higher standard for you in your life. If you practice his philosophy and pass it on to those you love, you will enrich your life and those of others.

By adopting some of his ideas into your life, you can become a stronger more determined person who succeeds at everything that challenges you. Next month is the start of a new year. What a great time to start thinking of how to be the better person you can be.

Vince Lombardi said at one of his team meetings, “How we practice and play the game of pro football is an example of how we will live our lives. If you continue to fail in practice, you will fail in other careers after football. Because in the process of failure, we develop bad habits, and a habit good or bad, soon becomes the natural thing to do. Successful people usually possess good habits.

Discipline and personal commitment were very high in every aspect of coach Lombardi’s approach to getting things done. “The quality of any man’s life has got to be a full measure of that man’s commitment to excellence and to victory regardless of what field he may be in.”

“Winning is the only thing.” Coach Lombardi reminds us that there is no laughter in losing. If you relentlessly chase perfection, you will enhance your God-given talents and achieve excellence. Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all-the-time thing. You don’t win once in a while. You don’t do things right once in a while. You do them right all the time. Winning is a habit, unfortunately so is losing…

“It’s easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline when you’re a winner, when you’re number one. What you have to have is faith and discipline when you’re not a winner.

“No one is perfect, but making the effort to be perfect is what life is all about… If you will not settle for anything less than the best, you will be amazed at what you can do with your lives.”

“All the glamour, all the noise, all the excitement, all of the color, they linger only in the memory, but the spirit, the will to excel, the will to win, they go on forever.”

“Fatigue makes a coward of us all. When you’re tired, you rationalize. You make excuses in your mind. You say I’m too tired, I’m bushed, I can’t do this, and I’ll loaf. Then you’re a coward.

“If you really want something, you can have it if you are willing to pay the price. And the price means that you have to work better and harder than the next guy.”

“The harder you work the harder it is to surrender.”

“The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back.”

“You don’t do things right once in a while. You do them right all the time…”

“I don’t give my word lightly, and I don’t break it.”

“If you relentlessly chase perfection, you will enhance your God-given talents and achieve excellence.”

If you can capture the spirit of these ideas and practice the ones that are meaningful to you, next year you will have your best year ever and you know………..you can do it!!!
